ACIPFAL announced the very first winner of the ACIPFAL Excellence in Education Award (sponsored by Reed) to Tony Dawson from Liverpool John Moores University.
The award, which was voted for by students, was presented at the conference Gala dinner in Edinburgh. The award came as a complete surprise to Tony, but not to those who know him. Claire Gravil, a student at Liverpool John Moores and NSF Representative, told how Tony has a talent for really making his lectures come alive. Tony has been lecturing for 27 years and currently teaches Business Strategy & Management and case studies at P3. Interestingly, he taught the current CIPFA President Roger Tabor, so it was fitting that Tony should receive the award at the event at which Roger would make his first speech of his Presidential year.
Tony paid CIPFA students quite a complement awarding them second place in his affections, just behind his first love Saint Helens. To say Tony is a big rugby league fan is a bit of an understatement in fact he now feels on a bit of a roll and was sure his team would win this week.
