Quality Assurance

Ensuring our courses remain of a consistent and high quality is important to us at CETC and there are several ways we monitor this, including:

Trainers

The quality of CETC's courses is dependent upon the quality of the trainers. Courses at CETC are delivered by an experienced team of professionally qualified trainers who are focused exclusively on CIPFA programmes. Pen pictures of CETC trainers can be viewed on the Staff Contacts page.

All trainers are professionally qualified and most have an accountancy qualification and experience in finance related positions within the public sector. A rigorous recruitment process is employed whereby propsective trainers are asked to demonstrate their skills through simulated excercises over the course of a day. Regular peer observations are also undertaken by trainers to ensure consistency and high standards and all trainers are periodically observed by their manager.

As part of CETC's continuous improvement, trainers also conduct a formal bi-annual review of each course in order to ensure that subsequent courses are improved and delivered taking into account student performance and feedback on previous courses.

Course Evaluation Questionnaires

At the end of each course all students are asked to complete a questionnaire on how they feel the course has gone and suggest any improvements that could be made. Course Directors and Module Leaders use any feedback from these to inform the course development.

Courses Committees

Students have the opportunity to contribute further to the way that courses operate by being represented on the Centre’s Courses Committee, which meets bi-annually at each centre. Two employer representatives are also Courses Committee members as is a member of the External Quality Audit team. See the Studying with CETC page in the Students section for information on course representatives and committee dates.

Employers’ Meetings

All employers of students attending CETC are invited to attend the bi-annual Employer’s meetings, typically held in March and September of each year at each centre. The Employers' meetings are the best forum to find out about the plans CETC and CIPFA have, hear a review of the courses and performance in exams from the Course Director, ask questions, and meet with other employers.

Forthcoming employers’ meeting dates can be seen on the Employers page here.

To receive minutes from the previous meeting or an agenda for forthcoming meetings please contact Marilyn Clarke, PA to Head of CETC on 020 7403 4300 or email enquiries@cetc.org.uk

External Quality Audit

A further way of ensuring the quality of CETC courses is through an independent external quality audit which is commissioned by CETC's Governing Body. The quality audit is undertaken by a leading UK university.
