Gary Gilbert - BA, CPFA - Head of CETC
Gary became Head of CETC in the spring of 1996. His previous experience includes working as a Senior Accountant in local government, and as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Glamorgan. He joined CETC as Professional Courses Director in 1986. Gary's specialism is financial accounting and financial reporting and he teaches on Certificate (Financial Accounting).

Steve Daniels - BA, CPFA - Academic Director
Steve joined CETC in 1990, after 5 years at the National Audit Office. In 1997, Steve became the Course Director for courses delivered by CETC in England then Course Director for South East courses and is now Academic Director. Steve is responsible for the academic leadership of all of CETC's courses in the UK and internationally including their development, planning, resourcing and quality management. Steve also has day to day operational management responsibilities for CETC's courses provided at CETC Wales and CETC West of England, as well as CIPFA programmes provided at Leeds in conjunctions with the Department for Work and Pensions and at Warwick University for the Postgraduate Diploma in Public Finance & Leadership. Steve specialises in financial management and strategy. He teaches on the Final Test of Professional Competence (Finance and Management Case Study) and is the joint CIPFA moderator and CETC's module leader for Finance and Management Case Study.

David Henderson - BSc (Hons), CPFA, MSc, PGC (TLHE) - Course Director South East
David joined CETC in 2003 having previously worked for the Audit Commission for a range of clients within local government and the NHS. Until autumn 2007 David was Senior Trainer teaching on Financial Management, Systems and Techniques, Leadership and Management, and Strategic Business Management (for which he was module leader) as well as courses for the Postgraduate Diploma in Public Finance and Leadership. David now has line management responsibilities for several South East based trainers, oversees CETC South East courses, undertakes client management activities, and as a member of the CETC management team contributes to the operational and strategic management of the Centre. David is also the module leader for Strategic Business Management.

Pam Addley - FCCA, CertEd - Senior Trainer
Pam joined CETC in January 2001. Previously, Pam was a Senior Lecturer at Liverpool John Moore's University, teaching on CIPFA, ACCA and CIMA programmes, as well as undergraduate programmes. Before that Pam had a number of years lecturing experience within the further education sector. Pam specialises in tax and financial accounting, teaching on Certificate (Financial Accounting and Financial Reporting) and Diploma (Taxation). Pam is the module leader for Tax.

Alexa Brown - BSc(Hons) PGDip CPFA - Trainer
Alexa joined CETC in February 2007 having previously worked for the Audit Commission. Alexa has several years of public sector external auditing experience across local government, health and criminal justice sectors. CIPFA qualified, Alexa is currently studying for a PhD, researching strategy, management accounting and performance measurement in local government. Alexa currently teaches on Certificate (Management Accounting and Financial Management, Systems and Techniques) Diploma (Accounting for Decision Making) and contributes to the Finance and Management Case Study at Final Test of Professional Competence Level.

Nicola Campbell - BA ACMA - Senior Trainer
Nicola joined CETC in August 2005 having previously worked in a range of finance positions within local government, for the Northants Chamber of Commerce and most recently as a Management Accountant for Northamptonshire Police. Nicola is involved in teaching Management Accounting at Certificate level and the Finance and Management Case Study for the FTPC. She is also the Module Leader for Management Accounting.

Julia Cook - BSc, CPFA - Trainer
Julia joined CETC in January 2007 and teaches at CETC Wales and CETC West of England. She qualified with CIPFA in 1992 and brings a wealth of experience to her role at CETC after working for 17 years at Cardiff County Council in a variety of accountancy positions. Julia currently teaches on Certificate (Financial Accounting and Financial Reporting) and Diploma (Financial & Performance Reporting) at both CETC West of England and CETC Wales and also contributes to the Finance and Management Case Study at the Final Test of Professional Competence Level.

 

   
  Jenny Hill - BA, ACA - Senior Trainer
Jenny joined CETC in 2003 having previously worked for a large private sector accountancy firm in the UK and in Australia, where she was responsible for the audit of large range of clients, in the private, public and charitable sectors. Jenny is an ICAEW member and is involved in teaching Certificate (Financial Reporting), and Diploma (Financial and Performance Reporting).

Darrell Hurtt - LLB, CPFA - Senior Trainer
Darrell joined CETC in 1999 from the National Audit Office. Darrell's specialisms are auditing, corporate governance and financial accounting. He teaches on Certificate (Financial Accounting), Diploma (Financial and Performance Reporting, Audit & Assurance, Governance & Public Policy, and Public Finance). Darrell is module leader for Governance & Public Policy.

Debbie Johnston - CPFA - Senior Trainer
Debbie joined CETC in early 2005 having qualified as a chartered accountant with CETC South East in 2000. She has worked in the public sector since 1991 working in various finance roles within local government and for a period within central government. Debbie teaches Financial Management, Systems and Techniques at Certificate level and contributes to the Finance and Management Case Study at the Final Test of Professional Competence level. She is also the Module Leader for Financial Management Systems & Techniques.

Helena Jones - Trainer
Helena joined CETC in June 2006 after working as Client Audit Manager in a private sector accountancy firm and a variety of positions within local government (especially in internal audit). Helena contributes to the teaching of various modules, such as Certificate (Financial Accounting), Diploma (Audit and Assurance) and FTPC (Finance and Management Case Study). Helena is module leader for Audit & Assurance.
Julie McDonald - MSc, BSc, FACCA - Senior Trainer
Before joining CETC in February 2005, Julie gained 15 years' experience teaching accounting on a variety of higher and further education programmes for professional, postgraduate and undergraduate students. Julie taught the management accounting units on both the AAT and CIMA qualifications; finance and statistics, financial accounting and financial management at undergraduate level and supervised dissertations at the postgraduate level. At CETC, Julie teaches Accounting for Decision Making at the Diploma level and Financial Accounting at the Certificate level. Julie is module leader for Financial Accounting and is also the moderator for Accounting for Decision Making.
Bob Smith - BSc, CPFA - Senior Trainer
Prior to joining CETC in 1987, Bob worked as an accountant in local government and for local authority associations negotiating with central government on various financial matters. A former CIPFA P3 Project Examiner, Bob teaches on Certificate (Management Accounting), Diploma (Accounting for Decision Making), and FTPC (Finance and Management Case Study). Bob is module leader for Accounting for Decision Making.

Christine Walls - MA, CPFA - Senior Trainer
Christine joined CETC in early 2003, having previously worked in public sector audit with a large accountancy firm. Christine has worked with a wide range of local government, central government and in particular, NHS clients. Christine teaches Diploma (Financial and Performance Reporting, and Public Finance) and is involved in the FTPC Case Study. Christine is the Financial & Performance Reporting module leader and CIPFA moderator.

 

 

Michael Sunderland - BA, CPFA - Trainer
Michael joined CETC in 2008 having previously worked at the Audit Commission. Michael has several years of public sector external auditing experience across the local government, health and criminal justice sectors. He is CIPFA qualified and holds the Securities and Investment Institute Certificate in Investment Management. Michael currently teaches on the Diploma (Governance and Public Policy) and contributes to the Finance and Management Case Study at Final Test of Professional Competence Level.

 

Alan Wan - MA, CPFA - Senior Trainer
Alan re-joined CETC in May 2007 having left CETC in 2006 to work as Audit Manager at the London Borough of Wandsworth. Alan's previous experience includes posts in both public and private sector audit and his specialisms are auditing, management accounting and management. He is involved in Certificate (Management Accounting), Diploma (Leadership and Management, and Taxation), and FTPC (Finance and Management Case Study).

Kim Woods - FCCA, MIMgt, PGCE, MA, BA(Hons) - Senior Trainer
Kim rejoined CETC in July 2008. Kim has had a number of years' experience in the further education sector, teaching on CIMA and AAT courses. Previously, Kim worked in a range of finance roles for both the NHS and the private sector, including audit, financial accounting and management accounting. Kim is a member of the Chartered Management Institute and a registered auditor. Kim teaches Financial Reporting at Certificate level and Taxation at Diploma level.

 

Stephanie Wrench - BA (Hons) CPFA - Trainer
Stephanie joined CETC in June 2008 having previously worked for the Audit Commission and a large private accountancy firm in the Channel Islands. Stephanie has several years of public sector external auditing experience across local government, health and criminal justice sectors and both external and internal auditing experience in the private sector (financial services industry). Stephanie currently teaches on Certificate (Management Accounting), Diploma (Leadership and Management) and contributes to the Finance and Management Case Study at Final Test of Professional Competence Level.

Chris Lees - Course Director (CETC Midlands & CETC West of England)
Chris was appointed as Course Director in August 2005. Prior to that, he was a Training Consultant with the Institute of Public Finance Limited, developing and delivering training courses to a variety of public sector bodies. Before that Chris worked in local government for a number of years. Chris teaches Strategic Business Management and Finance & Managment Case Study on the Final Test of Professionanl Competence level and Leadership and Management on the Diploma level.
 

Philip McCosker - BSc (Hons), MBA, FCCA - Senior Trainer
Philip joined CETC in September 2005 having spent 10 years working as a Senior Lecturer in the higher education sector, most recently at Worcester Business School where he taught accounting on a range of undergraduate, postgraduate and management development courses. Prior to teaching Philip worked as a management accountant in the food retail sector and NHS. At CETC, Philip contributes to Certificate modules (Financial Accounting and Financial Reporting), Accounting for Decision Making at Diploma and the Finance and Management Case Study. He is also the module leader for Financial Reporting.

Richard Pennington - BSc ACMA - Senior Trainer
Richard joined CETC in August 2005. Richard has previously worked in accountancy roles for HM Customs and Excise and the private and not-for-profit sectors in internal audit, VAT audit, finance systems development, project management and management accounting. Richard contributes to Diploma (Audit and Assurance, Public Finance and Taxation) and the Finance and Management Case Study. Richard is the module leader for Public Finance.
  Jade Quarrell - Senior Trainer
Jade joined CETC in 2003 and is based at CETC Midlands in Birmingham. Jade previously worked in a range of finance roles for a large local authority, including audit, financial accounting and management accounting. Jade is involved in teaching Certificate (Financial Accounting), Diploma (Governance and Public Policy; Financial and Performance Reporting; and Audit and Assurance), and FTPC (Finance and Management Case Study).

Stewart MacLeod - PhD, MA, DMS, CPFA - Course Director (Scotland)
Stewart was appointed as Course Director in October 2003. Prior to that, he was a freelance consultant, working on public sector projects in various transition and developing countries. He was Educational Courses Manager with CETC until 1998 and has also worked in local government. Stewart specialises in financial reporting and he teaches on Certificate (Financial Reporting and Financial Accounting), Diploma (Financial and Performance Reporting and Governance and Public Policy), and FTPC (Finance and Management Case Study). He is also the moderator for the Finance and Management Case Study. He is also the joint CIPFA moderator for the Finance and Management Case Study.

Graham Foster - MA(Oxon) CPFA - Senior Trainer
Graham has worked with both CIPFA head office (as Development Manager) and CETC, previously at CETC South East and now at CETC East Scotland, since 2002. Prior to joining CETC Graham worked in a variety of positions within local government (especially in internal audit) as well as working for a private sector accountancy firm responsible for the audit of a range of public sector clients. Graham is a CIPFA member and he teaches Diploma (Audit and Assurance, Governance and Public Policy and Public Finance) and at Final Test of Professional Competence level he contributes to the Strategic Business Management and Finance and Management Case Study modules.

Marilyn Clarke - PA to Head of CETC
Marilyn has specific responsibility for Employers' Meetings, Courses Committee meetings and for the hiring of rooms at CETC South East. She is your first point of contact for enquiries relating to these areas.

Liz Curran - Support Service Manager
Liz is responsible for managing administrative support for all UK courses. Liz has specific responsibility for examination arrangements and timetables. Liz is your first point of contact for enquiries relating to these areas.

 

Lara Fasanya - Senior Courses and Regional Administrator
Lara joined CETC in June 2007 and is responsible for processing enrolments for CETC South East, CETC West of England, CETC Wales, and CETC's bespoke programme with the Department for Work and Pensions; co-ordinating examinations; and producing student progress reports and distributing these to employers. Lara is responsible for Employers' meetings and course committee meetings in Bristol and Wales. Lara is the first point of contact for any queries regarding any of these areas.

 

Jessica Swift - Course and Premises Administrator (Midlands)
Jessica is responsible for all aspects of pre-course and on-course administration for courses run at CETC Midlands. This includes general enquiries, course enrolments, progress tests and attendance records. She also has responsibility for Course Committees and Employers meetings and for the hiring of rooms at CETC Midlands.
 

Amanda Southgate - Accounts and Premises Administrator
Amanda has specific responsibility for invoice arrangements for the collection of course fees, along with management of the CETC South East facilities.

 

  Abdul Rusan - Administrative Assistant
Abdul has specific responsibility for obtaining books/publications on loan from the Centre's Resource Centre.
Dawn Terry - Course Administrator CETC South East
Dawn has specific responsibility for Certificate, Diploma and FTPC course administration arrangements for CETC South East students, including progress tests, attendance records and reports

Karen is based at CETC East Scotland in Edinburgh. She is responsible for all aspects of pre-course and on-course administration for courses run at CETC East Scotland.
