Financial and Performance Reporting Transition course

You may be thinking of taking the Financial and Performance Reporting (FPR) exam in June 2011. If so, you need to be aware of some substantive changes to the content of the examinable material compared to 2010.

So, for all Professional Qualification students who have already studied this module and who will be sitting the exam in June 2011 CIPFA Education and Training Centre (CETC), has developed a one-day course to explain these changes, the FPR Transition course*.

As you are aware the Code of Practice of Local Authority Accounting constantly changes and the 2010/2011 code explains the impact of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) on financial reporting in local government. This is the main change affecting the FPR materials. The changes in this code will affect a number of important areas such as:

Changes to the reporting format of the main accounting statements.
The introduction of a new statement – the movement in reserves statement.
Changes to accounting for government grants.

The FPR transition course will also cover some changes affecting other sectors, in particular:

New formats for central government operating statements.
The removal of the notional cost of capital charges from central government accounts.
Changes in the treatment of impairments in both the NHS and central government sectors.

The course is ideal for anyone who has already taken the Financial and Performance Reporting module or is retaken this module’s exam.

The Financial and Performance Transition course will be run on 23 March 2011 at our South East training centre and on 19 April 2011 at our North West training centre and is excellent value for money at £115 + VAT.

* this course will NOT focus on changes that came in to FPR in January 2010 when the central government and NHS sectors moved over to IFRS as these have been in the materials throughout 2010.
