CETC Alumini win prestigious accountancy awards

For nearly 20 years the CIPFA Education and Training Centre (CETC) has been equipping students with the skills and knowledge they need to go on to have successful careers in public sector finance. As well as enjoying significantly higher than national average pass rates for their students, CETC can now boast two award winning alumni. Nathan Elvery and Conrad Hall were both winners at the recent Accountancy Age awards for their work in transforming their respective local councils, proving that a good grounding at CETC can lead to high flying careers.

Nathan won the coveted Public and Voluntary Sector Finance Director of the Year award in recognition for his work at the London Borough of Croydon. After qualifying from CETC South East in 1994 whilst on a local government fast-track trainee programme, Nathan's career has seen him in various public sector positions including Assistant Finance Director at Westminster City Council and his current position of Director of Finance and Resources.

Conrad was the runaway winner for the Accountant of the Year award. He joined Lambeth Council in May 2003 as chief accountant and has made a series of innovative changes that have turned the council around. Conrad qualified from CETC South East in 1998.

Gary Gilbert, Head of CETC says: "From all at CETC we want to congratulate Nathan and Conrad on winning these prestigious awards. It's great to see that they have built on the skills they developed whilst studying at CETC and have been so successful in their respective careers."
