| Support for Open Learning Students |
Studying CIPFA through the open learning only route can be hard work and require a huge amount of discipline and motivation. CETC can help open learning students through a range of services that students can pick and choose from. You can read about the options we have available below along with information on the availability and how to enrol. Fees for all services are available to view by clicking here
Mock Exams
A mock exam can help give you an indication of how well you have assimilated
the open learning material, how good your exam technique is, and any areas
you need to work on before the real exam. As part of the main course CETC
provides a mock exam for its students to sit in exam conditions, we can
also extend this service to open learning students by providing you with
a mock exam which you can choose to sit in class at the nearest CETC college
or at home or work and then submit to CETC for marking and feedback.
|
Availability: You can sit a mock exam at home/work or at
a CETC centre according to the date of the mock exam on CETC's
course schedule. If you are sitting it at home/work you will
need to post your script to CETC to be received before the mock
exam date on the course schedule. |
FMCS Mock Exams
Practising sitting case studies is the best way to prepare for the
intensive FMCS paper. However, only a limited number of case studies are
available as part of the Open Learning Material so CETC has made more
available for CIPFA students. You can find out more about how the Ad Hoc
Case Study mock exam service works here.
|
Availability: See the course schedule here |
Progress Tests
Progress tests are another useful way to assess your understanding
of the syllabus. Not as formal or in-depth as mock exams, the tests are
approximately half the duration of a mock exam and focus on certain areas
of the syllabus. CETC have a bank of progress tests that can be set and
marked.
|
Availability: You can sit a progress test at home/work at
any time |
Revision Courses
CETC provides an extensive programme of revision courses in the month
preceding the CIPFA exams. Typically 1-3 day's duration the courses will
help hone your knowledge of the module and are geared towards providing
the techniques necessary to succeed in the exam. A number of exam standard
questions will also be included in the revision course material.
|
Availability: Throughout May and November, dates can be
seen on the Revision Courses page here |
One to One Tutoring
Meeting with a tutor face-to-face to discuss your particular learning
needs or concerns about the syllabus can prove extremely useful. You can
choose from 1 hour to 6 hours to spend with the tutor depending on your
requirements.
|
Availability: Tutoring can take place at CETC centres in
the South East, Midlands or East Scotland at a time convenient to
you and the relevant tutor |
Course Materials
CETC tutors put together comprehensive learning materials for each
module which are designed to complement the Open Learning Material. If
you are unable to attend the day release or revision course then you could
purchase these materials.
|
Availability: Materials are only available after the course
has started |
