Taking the Strategy Forward - Action Plan

The seven hallmarks of the future CIPFA identified in this strategy are inter-dependent and therefore, not surprisingly, many of the initiatives which the Council is proposing to take are expected to have a positive impact in relation to more than one hallmark. The summary action plan below lists each initiative under its most relevant hallmark and also identifies the other hallmarks which are expected to be advanced.

In taking any of the initiatives forward it is necessary to focus on both risks and rewards. It is essential that there is clarity of purpose about all the actions taken and a clear understanding of the benefits that will accrue to CIPFA and its members from pursuing a particular course of action successfully. It is also important that the risks involved in embarking on particular routes are carefully considered at an early stage and that mitigation strategies are built into development programmes. Equally, it is essential that the risks of not pursuing a particular development are also understood.
