Twinning and Support

CIPFA actively encourages twinning and joint working with accountancy and other bodies across the world. We have relationships with a number of bodies that work in line with our strategic objectives. A number of these relationships have, or are about to be, formalised using memoranda of understanding.

Currently CIPFA has international memoranda of understanding with:

The UK National Audit Office for joint working on capacity building projects with Supreme Audit Institutions and related bodies
CPA Australia for membership recognition.
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) for the awarding of joint qualifications and other areas of technical cooperation; and, in preparation;
The African Commission for Local Government Improvement (ACLGI) for professionalisation, capacity development, performance improvement and long term sustainability issues for local government.

CIPFA also has a partnership agreement with the Center for Excellence in Finance (CEF) in Slovenia regarding the provision of certification of internal auditors and accountants in South East Europe that has run for a number of years.

We actively encourage direct twinning and support arrangements with governmental and accountancy institutions so that the benefits of professionalisation can be delivered in appropriate, sustainable ways.
