CIPFA support for IFRS implementation

As part of ongoing programmes of support for accountants involved in the implementation of IFRS in government, CIPFA and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales ran a joint IFRS forum. Entitled ‘Planning to succeed through shared experience’, it was held on March 17 at the Chartered Accountants Hall.

The key message was that departments are urged to learn from the experiences of the private sector as they adopt IFRS: public sector finance managers should not put it on the back burner because of the chancellor’s decision to delay implementation.

In fact, they should be encouraged to redouble their efforts to get their departments compliant as soon as they possibly can.

CIPFA will be continuing to support practitioners by providing courses on IFRS implementation.
