A coalition government in Cardiff Bay will inevitably create quite a different and excitingly interesting prospect for the National Assembly. As the Government gets to grips with this change in administration in addition to governing in compliance with the 2006 Government of Wales Act, the political agenda has all the ingredients of an interesting time ahead.
The theme for this year’s CIPFA Wales Annual Conference “Times they are a’changing” will therefore reflect on these new challenges and provide a quality opportunity for conference delegates to consider the issues as they affect their own organisations and their personal contribution to shaping and delivering services over the foreseeable future.
Please make a note in your diaries of the dates – 15th and 16th November and join us at Venue Cymru in Llandudno. Set beneath the glorious foothills of Snowdonia and occupying spectacular views out to sea, Venue Cymru promises to be an ideal location for this year’s Conference. Copies of the event's corporate support and exhibition opportunities are available as well as a list of the exhibitors. A booking form and further details about the conference programme can be found in the CIPFA shop.
CIPFA Wales looks forward to welcoming you to Llandudno.

A new PMPA report on global auditing to be published 1 November 2007
The Public Management and Policy Association (PMPA) has brought the heads of the UK and USA government audit bodies together to discuss the future of public sector audit. The Comptroller and Auditor General of the USA says that auditor must “increase insight and facilitate foresight”. Instead of showing why things went wrong, this important new report explains how audit bodies can help to prevent policy disasters and improve the cost and quality of public services.

The introduction of IFRS is an issue that all public bodies (particularly central government, related bodies and NHS) need to consider sooner rather than later. The earlier the new reporting requirements are addressed, the smoother the transition!
Bookings are now being taken for the following CIPFA/PwC IFRS workshops that are being delivered throughout the UK in London, Cardiff, Manchester and Edinburgh:
