Andrew Rawnsley, political broadcaster and author, is set to address CIPFA annual conference next week in Harrogate.
Recently making headlines with his book on New Labour - End of the Party - during the election campaign, Andrew will share his insight into the new coalition Government and what it means for the public services. |
Also addressing the conference will be Charles Kennedy, former leader of the Liberal Democrats, Colm McCarthy, the economist whose recommendations are central to the Irish Government's spending cuts, and Göran Persson, the Prime Minister who successfully tackled Sweden's budget deficit.

CIPFA survey: CFOs expect job and service cuts Jobs and services are likely to be cut as part of the response to the continuing recession, according to a new survey from CIPFA in association with CIVICA. In an update to its 2008 survey on the role of the director of finance, CIPFA asked 435 public sector chief financial officers (CFOs) their views on the impact of impending major readjustments to public service spending. |

Finance Bill amended to strengthen CFO role CIPFA has welcomed a decision by the Department of the Environment in Northern Ireland to amend it's draft Local Government (Finance) Bill to ensure the separation of the role of finance director from that of chief executive.
