Former PM urges Government not to delay cuts
Göran Persson, the former Prime Minister of Sweden who transformed his country's public finances, told last week's CIPFA conference that the UK's coalition Government must not wait to start public spending cuts. In a speech described by The Guardian as 'stunning', Persson added that the Government should show leadership and ensure that reforms are sustainable.
