Former US Comptroller General calls for fiscal responsibility at CIPFA conference

Former US Comptroller GeneralDavid Walker, former US Comptroller General and subject of the Oscar-shortlisted documentary I.O.U.S.A., has called for an era of greater fiscal responsibility at a conference hosted by CIPFA and HM Treasury. Speaking at the World Class Performance symposium on 12 February, David argued that political courage and leadership is needed to make fiscal responsibility a priority for individuals and for governments.

CIPFA’s Warwick Diploma has another excellent year
The latest group to undertake the unique Post Graduate Diploma in Public Finance and Leadership, run by CIPFA and Warwick Business School, has achieved a pass rate of more than 80 per cent. Among the successful candidates was CIPFA’s Director of Education & Training, Adrian Pulham.

 
     

Finance network to begin series of accounts closure events
The CIPFA Finance Advisory Network (FAN) begins a series of events on local authority accounts closure next week. The events, which take place across the UK over the next two months, are designed to provide an insight into what needs to be done for final accounts closedown for 2008/09.
