Cutting public sector pensions
‘will cost taxpayer £8 billion’

Cutting public sector pensions would lead to an almost immediate eight billion pound cost to the taxpayer, according to Bob Summers, Chair of CIPFA's Pensions Panel. Addressing the National Association of Pension Funds Local Authority Conference on 19 May, Mr Summers warned against the potential hidden costs of the radical reforms proposed in some quarters.
