Budget: delivering effective asset management
In last week’s Budget, the Government set out plans for a property strategy to drive efficiency savings of £5 billion a year and £20 billion in asset disposals by 2020.
CIPFA Property has a range of services to help local authorities deliver effective asset management, essential to realising the Government’s plans whilst maintaining services to the public. Eighty-five local authorities use its asset management software and the Asset Management Planning Network was highlighted as an example of best practice in last year’s Operational Efficiency Programme (OEP) report. Safeguarding public money: new guidance CIPFA and SOLACE have developed guidance for councils on safeguarding public money. Published as an addendum to their widely used Governance Framework, the guidance emphasises that councils should have a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in the senior management team, or explain how their alternative arrangements assure an equivalent impact in terms of good financial management and sound stewardship of public money. |
