CIPFA: efficiency savings must be better reported
CIPFA this week welcomed recommendations published by the Treasury Select Committee in its report on evaluating efficiency. CIPFA agrees that public bodies should be systematic about measuring efficiency savings and that the information should be reported publicly.
CIPFA Chief Executive Steve Freer said:
“Taxpayers are naturally enthusiastic about public service efficiency but they are also sceptical about claims of huge savings. The public need to be able to see clearly not only how much has been saved by a particular initiative, but crucially, how those resources are being used.” |
