MAJOR EVENTS SCHEDULED FOR 2006
The
CIPFA Capital Conference – 7 June 2006 – Radisson
SAS Portman Hotel, London
Taking place on 7 June, in London, this one-day conference
is the major event for capital finance managers in local government.
Building upon CIPFA’s work over recent years to establish
the Prudential Code for Capital Finance, and aimed at those
team members who have responsibility for capital accounting
and capital finance strategies in local government, the day
will draw together leading experts and practitioners. It will
cover ODPM issues, current capital accounting, treasury and
investment management, and uses of the capital freedoms. Nearly
200 bookings taken to date.
The
CIPFA Social Services Finance Conference – 6 &
7 July 2006 – De Vere Grand Harbour Hotel, Southampton
This is the year in which social care finance teams will
be expected to have resolved many of the outstanding issues
around the ‘split’ between the provision of services
for children and for adults, and in which our political masters
will expect new structures to have evolved and new processes
to be operating with well-oiled precision. This, however,
is the conference that looks beyond the policy spin and which
looks at what is really happening, what the real problems
and solutions are, and how, in real life, you are making it
work. Aimed at both ‘sides’ of the social care
provision model, we anticipate an attendance in excess of
previous years (120+).
Conference for the Regions - 21 and 22 September
2006
This year's conference takes place on Thursday 21 and Friday
22 September 2006 in Glasgow. This is always a popular event
which primarily attracts key decision-makers in CIPFA's regional
structures - finance professionals with networks in a range
of sectors. Conference sessions will take place at the Hilton
Hotel as will the conference ceilidh. The Conference Dinner
will be held at the City Chamber and there will also be a
welcome event the evening before the conference at the House
for an Art Lover in Bellahouston Park. We are anticipating
that at least 100 delegates will attend.
CIPFA
Northern Ireland Conference 2006
The CIPFA Northern Ireland Conference and Exhibition ‘Delivering
Public Services in a Changing World …. Dare to be Different!’
will take place on the 28 & 29 September 2006 at the Slieve
Donard Hotel, Newcastle, Co Down.
In the past fourteen years, the CIPFA Northern Ireland Conference
has established itself as the premier event in the calendar
of the Northern Ireland public services attracting over 250
senior civil servants.
Conference 2006 focuses on the lessons that can be learned
from public bodies that have been successfully developed and
now flourish in a rapidly changing and even more challenging
environment - by daring to be different!

CIPFA IN WALES ANNUAL PUBLIC SERVICES FINANCE CONFERENCE
This two day residential event will take place at the Holland
House Hotel, Cardiff on 16 and 17 November 2006. Building
on the success of previous events this conference promises
a prestigious line up of invited speakers to present issues
of national and strategic importance which impact on the Welsh
public sector scene. This event attracts in the region of
150 delegates made up principally of senior public sector
managers and decision makers and each year the conference
enables them to focus on the big picture of public service
issues.
The supporting exhibition proved exceedingly popular in
2005 to delegates and exhibitors and we are again reserving
a substantial exhibition area as well as the opportunity for
involvement in workshop sessions - an integral part of developing
a comprehensive conference programme. As is now becoming traditional,
the CIPFA in Wales Annual Dinner will feature as a key element
within the overall event when a number of distinguished guests
will be invited to join the delegates in celebration of another
successful year.
