CIPFA Northern Ireland Conference 2007
Delivering More from Less – Surviving the Big Squeeze!
27 & 28 September, Newcastle
The 2007 CIPFA Northern Ireland conference and exhibition is being held in the Slieve Donard Hotel, Newcastle on Thursday 27 September & Friday 28 September.
Money for public services is tight and becoming tighter. Therefore, Conference 2007 addresses just how much further change to public services is necessary and can realistically be delivered as the rate of growth in funding and resources slows down. Is the squeeze on public services becoming almost unbearable?
Now in its 16th year, the CIPFA Northern Ireland conference has built a reputation for providing a bold, imaginative and highly relevant programme of inspirational speakers who are prominent in their field and who come with national and international reputations.
The quality of the conference programme attracts a large and influential audience of up to 300 attendees including Board Members, Chief Executives, Directors of Finance, Heads on Internal Audit and other senior executives from the spectrum of public services.
Most sponsorship packages have been booked by our long standing private sector partners. However, there are still attractive packages available to exhibit at the conference. For further information please contact Emily Kennedy on 028 9026 6774 or via e-mail emily.kennedy@cipfa.org
The CIPFA Health Finance Conference
5 October 2007, London
The CIPFA Health Finance Conference remains the key event for senior teams who are keen to hear from leading figures in NHS finance. In a sleek, refined format, all the major issues will be addressed by expert practitioners and commentators, offering the most efficient means of accessing this information. This year, Richard Douglas will once again be a key-note speaker. David Walker from the Guardian, will chair the event and offer his personal, incisive commentary on the issues that are of keenest importance. As with last year’s re-formatted, one-day event, we expect an audience of around 100 senior finance health professionals.
The CIPFA Central Government Finance Conference
10 October 2007, London
This flagship event is a must for senior finance staff in central government. It will cover prime strategic issues and financial developments within the sector. An expert selection of experienced speakers will look at the key financial arrangements for central government and cover the particular topical concerns of mid to senior finance staff in the central government sector. Topics to be covered include growing financial capability; improving leadership in the civil service; international financial accounting standards; and transforming the Home Office finance function – one year on. Over 100 delegates from across the range of central government finance functions are expected to attend.
The CIPFA Treasury Management Conference
30 October 2007, London
This event is about all the current and forthcoming policy and operational areas for local government treasury management practitioners. With its theme of managing treasury risk and achieving good governance, it tackles all the vital issues in one highly informative and efficient day.
Aimed at local government treasury management teams, because of the breadth of its scope and the universal nature of some of the conference themes, it may also appeal to other colleagues, from non-local government backgrounds. As in previous years we anticipate an audience of around 150 senior finance professionals.
Developments in Police Finance
1 November 2007, London
This event will examine the recent developments in the financial management of police activities and will bring to light a clear perspective on many of the current issues of the day. It will focus on the contributions that a collaborative approach to policing can make, and how financial and efficiency gains can be reaped.
We expect about 80 senior finance executives working within police authorities and forces, chief constables and other senior non-finance colleagues to attend.
CIPFA in Wales Annual Conference and Exhibition
15 & 16 November, Llandudno
A coalition government in Cardiff Bay will inevitably create quite a different and excitingly interesting prospect for the National Assembly. As the Government gets to grips with this change in administration in addition to governing in compliance with the 2006 Government of Wales Act, the political agenda has all the ingredients of an interesting time ahead.
The theme for this year’s CIPFA Wales Annual Conference “Times they are a’changing” will therefore reflect on these new challenges and provide a quality opportunity for conference delegates to consider the issues as they affect their own organisations and their personal contribution to shaping and delivering services over the foreseeable future.
This Conference offers a wide and inclusive appeal across the public services, targeting senior finance professionals from central and local government, education, health and the voluntary sector with an audience of 120 delegates expected.
The Prudential Code in Practice
29 November 2007, London
An audience of around 100 local authority chief executives, treasurers, finance directors, deputy finance directors and chief accountants is expected to attend this event, which will consider how the CIPFA Prudential Code has introduced significant new freedoms - and responsibilities - for local government. The increased ability to pursue capital or revenue options can lead to major opportunities. How this development can be best exploited will form the focus of the day, with practical examples from local government practitioners and advisers.
