CIPFA CONFERENCE AND EXHIBITION 2007

The CIPFA annual conference is one of the largest events in the public services calendar. return to top PRA Awards 2007 – Public Reporting and Accountability – CALL FOR ENTRIES
Entry deadline March 23, 2007
These awards seek to recognise and promote best practice in public reporting and accountability arrangements across the public services. Does your organization adopt a two way process, encouraging discussion and debate about the organization, its services, its performance, its use of public money? Has your annual report or corporate plan been especially successful in obtaining stakeholder response? If your organization can demonstrate good practice then you should enter these awards.
Submitting an entry is easy – all we need is a 500 word statement and copies of relevant material demonstrating your strategy in practice.

Supported by CIPFA, the Cabinet Office, Ipsos MORI and our media partner the Times Public Agenda, these awards aim to promote pride in our public services by profiling and rewarding some of the sector's outstanding people. We hope you will nominate a team or individual for one of our many categories.
Entries are invited from public servants at all levels, including executives and non-executives across the spectrum of our public services. We want to hear of your accomplishments, whether you are employed directly by public bodies or by private or voluntary sector organisations engaged in the delivery of public services. MAJOR EVENTS SCHEDULED FOR 2007
The CIPFA Local Authority Accounting Conference
Solihull, 15 & 16 March
The CIPFA Local Authority Accounting Conference 2007 will once again provide the premier annual focus for the most senior finance managers from local government in the UK. With its unique blend of strategic messages and practical, technically-rooted sessions, this event attracts all the key local authority financial decision-makers. No other event can rival this conference’s profile and relevance to the local government accountancy decision-makers who make up its audience.
Established in 1985, the conference has gained a reputation for being at the forefront of accounting and financial management issues for local authorities. This popular event attracts between 150 and 200 delegates, all of whom are senior finance professionals. In 2007, the Conference will once again address all the current and forthcoming issues facing local government finance teams, including the pressing agenda of on-going public service reform and how this is impacting on finance. Plus, the essential full line up of technical accounting sessions.
Taking place at The Renaissance Solihull Hotel, in Solihull on the 15 & 16 March, the conference includes a popular gala dinner, which this year will be held on 15 March in the Renaissance Solihull Hotel.
The CIPFA Shared Services Conference
London, 29 March
The Government strategy ‘Transformational Government’ aims to jump-start the shared serviced agenda, which is viewed as a key transformation initiative. CIPFA will be hosting its first one-day Shared Services conference, aimed at finance professionals from across the public sector who are involved in implementing a shared services strategy. Over 100 delegates are expected to attend – over 50 places are already booked.
The CIPFA Pensions Conference
London, 17 April
This new event in the CIPFA conference calendar looks at the current issues in public service pensions from the often neglected but hugely significant perspective of the accounting and auditing practitioner and will provide an up-to-date overview of the local government and wider public service pensions world. With a particular emphasis on current accounting, reporting and auditing practices, we anticipate an audience of 100 senior finance professionals.
The CIPFA Audit Conference
Newcastle-upon-Tyne, 25-27 April
This annual conference is held over two and a half days and attracts around 200 heads of audit, the majority working in local government. There are also representatives from the health service, housing, central government and further and higher education. Delegate bookings received are already in excess of 100.
The CIPFA Local Authority Capital Conference
London, May 15
This one-day event attracted over 230 delegates in 2006, including chief finance officers, service heads and senior non-finance staff. Topics to be covered include: the SORP 2007; Accounting for Financial Instruments; Prudential Code and Asset Management Planning. It will take place in central London.
The CIPFA Social Care Finance Conference
York, 7 & 8 June
A two-day conference for social care finance teams, covering a full range of performance and financial management, technical and accounting issues. Over 100 delegates attend.
Conference for the Regions 2007
Dublin, 13 & 14 September
The annual Conference for the Regions enables Regions to get together and discuss issues of mutual interest, as well as identifying major issues to be considered.
The 2007 Conference for the Regions will be held in Dublin on 13 and 14 September. The venue is Dublin Castle Conference Centre in the city centre with accomodation provided at Jurys 'Christchurch'
CIPFA in Wales Annual Conference
Llandudno, 15 & 16 November
Returning to North Wales in 2007, the seventh CIPFA in Wales Annual Conference will offer a wide and inclusive appeal across the public services, targeting senior finance professionals from central and local government, education, health and the voluntary sector with an audience of 120 delegates expected.
