Recognised Qualifying Body (RQB) Status

CIPFA met with the DTI at the beginning of February to discuss its application for RQB status under the Companies Act. This will enable CPFAs who undertake a course of theoretical instruction and practical experience to become registered auditors. The meeting was positive and DTI officials had a small number of items that CIPFA needs to satisfy the DTI on before CIPFA’s application is recommended to the Secretary of State.

New Regulatory Body for the Accountancy Profession

The DTI has announced a merger between the Financial Reporting Council (FRC) and the Accountancy Foundation to form a single regulator for the accountancy profession. As a member of the CCAB, CIPFA will be involved in discussions with the DTI in the lead-in period to the establishment of the new regulator.
