Passcards, Firefox, Firewalls and Disappearing Buttons!

Dear Student

We are keenly aware that during the first weeks of its implementation your experience of the Student Learning Centre was not as smooth as we had planned.

Reading through your comments on the discussion forum and in the emails we have received, there are, broadly, two areas that have caused frustration: usability of the Student Learning Centre and general communications to students.

We realise that a good number of the difficulties you have experienced could have been mitigated by improved communications on our part. For this we apologise and are now working to keep you up to date with the latest news on any remaining issues and support you with your studies.

We are working very closely with Pearson to resolve the usability issues and progress on this will form part of our communications to you.

A questionnaire will be sent to you in the coming weeks asking for your feedback. In the meantime we will be sending out regular e-alerts, which you will also be able to read on the Current Students Notice Board and the Student Learning Centre. 

PASS CARDS
We had expected to send out the CDs of the PDF study guides with your Passcards. However, as you know, we are not happy with the quality of the PDFs and are working to produce something that is more user-friendly. Rather than delay your receipt of the Passcards we are sending these out separately.
 
Pass cards are being sent out from today.

USING FIREFOX?
Our developers have identified the issues that were preventing the study guides from loading for those using Firefox. Students using Firefox should have full access to the guides later today.

FIREWALLS
A few students may still be experiencing issues with firewalls in their organisations. We have put our web developers in contact with those organisations where we are aware this has been a problem. If you haven’t contacted us before and are concerned about firewalls, please contact etis@cipfa.org

DISAPPEARING BUTTONS!
When new content is uploaded, we need to ‘disable’ that module, resulting in disappearing launch and view buttons. We apologise for any interruption, but ask that you bear with us for those few minutes. If you experience prolonged delays, please let us know, giving the study session or module where the issue has arisen - etis@cipfa.org.
