The 2009 CIPFA Northern Ireland conference addresses the increasing pressure for public bodies to deliver services based on a genuine understanding of customer's needs.  However, this comes at a time when budgets have never been tighter in this credit crunch atmosphere.  These competing demandes upon public bodies provides the focus for what promises to be an exciting and informative conference.

Speakers include:

  • Lord Digby Jones, former CEO of the CBI and former Minister of State for Trade & Investment

  • Monty Halls, former royal marine, trained marine biologist, adventurer, explorer, author, motivational speaker and star of BBC's 'Monty Halls' Great Escape' 
  • Sir Alistair Graham, former Chairman of the Committee on Standards in Public Life and the Parades Commission
  • Tom Madden, Disney Institute - renowned throughout the world for its pioneering approach to customer care
  • Ben Page, Managing Director of Ipsos MORI Public Affairs and Chairman of its Social Research Institute
  • Stephen Berry, formerly a Finance Director and Banker who relates the practical skills and processes required for real life to the animals of the Serengeti

Also speaking at the conference:

Michael Kitts, a partner in PwC and the national leader for the firm's local authority strategic service partnership business; Sean Connolly, former boxer and expert in developing human potential; Charlie Ferguson, financial services expert and direct 'no frills' commentator on the current banking crisis; Glenn Houston, Chief Executive of the RQIA on raising standards in healthcare delivery; Jean Pousson, strategic adviser to a number of international clients and the leading Institute of Directors’ speaker on strategy and strategic finance; and Eleanor Gill, leading consumer champion in Northern Ireland.
