The Cliff Nicholson Award for Innovation and Excellence in Audit 2009

The Cliff Nicholson Award for Innovation and Excellence is an annual award that is presented for outstanding work in the field of Audit. This annual award is now in its 19th year, and, year after year attracts a wide variety of entries from a wide range of sectors including local government, health, housing, education and the private sector amongst others.

Background

The Cliff Nicholson Award dates back to Cliff Nicholson's presidency of CIPFA in 1990. Cliff himself has had a distinguished career in public service for over 40 years, most of that time within local government audit; this was recognised by a CBE in 1986. Cliff himself is a very active member of the judging panel for the award and shows great enthusiasm year after year when judging the entries.

The award, a beautiful cut glass crystal bowl and certificate is presented at the audit conference along with certificates to any entries that have been highly commended by the audit panel judging committee.

The Award

This annual award for innovation and excellence in the audit profession has a long and distinguished background. The award is project managed by Marc Teiman who works for CIPFA's Policy and Technical Directorate, along with Keeley Lund who is the Technical manager for Professional Standards and Guidance as well as Secretary to CIPFA's audit panel.
