Report - Going forward with Good Governance
The Good Governance Standard for Public Services was published in 2004 as a guide to the governance of organisations providing public services (funded in whole or in part by government and serving the public). This report summarises what is known about how the standard has been used, the new challenges arising from the changing policy context for governance, and how good governance might be taken forward in the public interest.

Delivering Good Governance in Local Government – Interim Guidance Note for Police Authorities and Forces in England and Wales
CIPFA in association with the APA and ACPO has developed interim guidance to the Framework Delivering Good Governance in Local Government. The guidance note is intended to help police authorities, assisted by their forces where appropriate, in reviewing the effectiveness of their own governance arrangements, developing and updating their own local codes of governance and demonstrating compliance with the principles of good governance. Delivering Good Governance in Local Government: Briefing Note
Following extensive research and consultation, the CIPFA/SOLACE Joint Working Group has produced Delivering Good Governance in Local Government: Framework and accompanying guidance note. The principles and standards set out in the Framework will help local authorities to develop and maintain their own codes of governance and discharge their accountability for the proper conduct of business. The Framework will help authorities to improve their performance, give local people better local services and provide stronger leadership for communities.
