The Role of the Panel
LAAP has a wide-ranging remit covering all accounting and financial reporting issues within local government, although its principal function is the production of guidance for practitioners. This includes LAAP Bulletins on current issues, the SORP Guidance Notes and the Consolidated Guidance on Capital Accounting.
The Panel is also responsible for the detailed development of the Best Value Accounting Code of Practice, within the framework set by the Best Value Steering Group.
