PrintChris Bilsland becomes chair of CIPFA Local Government Policy Panel
Chris Bilsland, the Chamberlain of the City of London and a member of the CIPFA Council, has been appointed Chair of the CIPFA Local Government Policy Panel.
Chris, who has been a member of the Panel since its inception said:
‘The Local Government Policy Panel has a key role in that it is the one place in CIPFA which provides a forum to solely address the key developments and current issues specifically affecting the world of local government. I very much welcome the opportunity to help lead on what is a very busy agenda indeed’
The Panel has a wide membership covering all of the United Kingdom, with representatives from Government and devolved administrations, the local government associations and audit and regulatory bodies. Its work ranges from informing on and responding to Government proposals through to the formulation of best practice, standards and guidance, for CIPFA members working in local government.
The new CIPFA President, John Butler has been acting Chair of the Panel in the run-up to Chris Bilsland’s appointment and will be continuing as Vice-Chair.
