PURPOSE

To receive an update on the work that CIPFA is undertaking on the potential role that depreciation could play within the prudential framework.

REPORT

  1. Work is nearing completion on the discussion paper that CIPFA is preparing on the role that depreciation could play within the prudential framework.

  2. Once the paper is finalised it will receive wide circulation to stakeholders.

  3. The Steering Group has previously indicated that once the discussion paper is ready, it should be discussed by a reference group of the Steering Group.

  4. The Steering Group is asked whether this is still the case. If so, it is suggested that the Secretary convene a meeting once the discussion paper is finalised.

  5. Current membership of the reference group is attached to this report and members are asked to notify the Secretary of any changes.

RECOMMENDATION

The Steering Group is asked to receive and consider this update on the work that CIPFA is undertaking on the potential role that depreciation could play within the prudential framework.
