Making policy in an age of austerity, the latest PMPA report with contributions from Faith Boardman, Paul Joyce, Adam Sharples, Irene Lucas CBE, Philip Copestake, Sue Richards and David Kennedy

This report addresses the strategic options for dealing with the recessions affects on public spending and the ways in which the skills and approaches of policy-makers will need to develop under the banner of the Big Society.

Contributors to this report considered the impact that this new world will bring to public policy and the many individuals involved within policy and decision-making from the Public, Private and Third sectors, and commented on the need to focus more on partnering, collaborative and value for money skills and on outcomes; furthermore contributors looked at how these changes will affect the traditional boundaries between the state and the individual.

This report includes contributions from Adam Sharples formally of DWP, David Kennedy, CE of Northampton Borough Council and Irene Lucas, former Permanent Secretary, DCLG

This report can be downloaded from PMPA Publications.
