THE CLIFF NICHOLSON AWARD 2009
The Cliff Nicholson Award for Innovation and Excellence is an annual award that is presented for outstanding work in the field of audit. This annual award is now in its 19th year and always attracts a wide variety of entries from a wide range of sectors including local government, health, housing and education.
BACKGROUND
The Cliff Nicholson Award dates back to Cliff Nicholson's presidency of CIPFA in 1990. Cliff himself has had a distinguished career in public service for over 40 years, most of that time within local government audit; this was recognised by a CBE in 1986. Cliff himself is a very active member of the judging panel for the award.
The award, a beautiful cut glass crystal bowl and certificate, is presented by Caroline Mawhood, Institute President at the formal dinner on the first evening of the conference. The President also presents certificates to any entries that have been highly commended by the audit panel judging panel.
