The Cliff Nicholson Award 2012
The Cliff Nicholson Award for Innovation and Excellence is an annual award that is presented for outstanding work in the field of audit. This award is now in its 21st year and always attracts a wide variety of entries from a wide range of sectors including local government, health, housing and education.
Background
The Cliff Nicholson Award dates back to Cliff Nicholson's presidency of CIPFA in 1990. Cliff himself has had a distinguished career in public service for over 40 years, most of that time within local government audit; this was recognised by a CBE in 1986. Cliff himself was a very active member of the judging panel for the award until he passed away in 2011.
The award, a beautiful cut glass crystal bowl and certificate, will be presented by Chris Bilsland, Institute President at the formal dinner on the first evening of the annual audit conference. The President will also present certificates to any entries that have been highly commended by the judging panel. Recent winners are to be found at 2010 and 2011.
