Local Authority Transport Infrastructure Assets

Review of Accounting, Management and Finance Mechanisms

The Department for Transport and HM Treasury have jointly commissioned CIPFA to undertake a review of the accounting, management and finance mechanisms for local authority transport infrastructure assets. The Review was undertaken on the basis of the following terms of reference. Since then a revised timetable has been agreed, as set out here.

The project aims to bring together relevant evidence and views from a number of different types of stakeholder:

Individuals have been invited to join the Project Steering Group on the basis of relevant experience and/or their ability to represent the various stakeholder groups listed above, as well as to ensure coverage across the UK.

Submission of the final report was planned for November 2007, but was rescheduled in order to take account of other work. After discussions with key government stakeholders the final report was published in June 2008.
