Launch Event FEE Discussion Paper “Implementation of Accrual Accounting: The Impact on Public Sector Audit”, 8 December 2008
FEE has examined how use of accrual accounting in the public sector has affected public sector audit. FEE surveyed 26 countries and assessed the implications for educating an auditor undertaking public sector audit.
The launch event for the FEE discussion paper on this issue will include an introduction by Caroling Mawhood, chair of the FEE Public Sector Committee and comments from an external auditors point of view by Professor Josef Bonnici.
Starting at 12.15 hrs, the presentation will be followed by a buffet lunch and finish at 14.15 hrs.
Delegates are requested to confirm attendance by 28 November 2008.

CIPFA European Group Annual Seminar
Group members attended the European Group's annual seminar and members' annual meeting on 15 October 2008 at the Conference Centre of the Federation of European Accountants, (FEE), in Brussels.
The seminar opened with a welcome from Olivier Boutellis-Taft, Chief Executive of FEE, and Caroline Mawhood, President of CIPFA and Chair of FEE Public Sector committe.
Caroline, with Chris Wobschall of CIPFA and Saskia Slomp, FEE Director, addressed the meeting on compliance and audit matters being tackled by the FEE Public Sector Committee. Caroline Rickatson, CIPFA's International Director, presented CIPFA's new International Development Strategy.
There was lively discussion at the CIPFA members meeting in the afternoon on the future of CIPFA in Europe.

Members were invited to this event by the President of FEE, Jacques Potdevin, reflecting the improving and key relationship between CIPFA's European Group and the FEE. Mike Hathorn, (CIPFA Member and Chair of IFAC's Public Sector Committee), FEE President Jacques Potdevin, Caroline Mawhood, (CIPFA Vice President), and a representative of the Cabinet of Commission Vice President spoke at the event.
CIPFA European Group Annual Seminar and General Meeting
The CIPFA European Group held its Biannual General Meeting and Annual Seminar in Brussels on 3 October 2007.
Conference for the Regions 2007
Group Chairman Leslie Milne and Website Administrator Hilary Street attended CIPFA's Conference for the Regions 2007, held in Dublin in early September.
Discussions at the conference centered on consideration of the role of CIPFA's regional structure. Issues such as whether and how regional groups could contribute to student recruitment and retention, improving links with other accounting bodies and increasing participation of CIPFA's membership in regional events were discussed.
Workshops held on the first day of the conference covered development planning, website maintenance, event organising and CPD.
The conference received an address from Peter Malone, Chairman of Ireland's National Road's Authority, in which he outlined his thoughts on the contribution private sector experience can make in managing a large public sector organisation.
The highlight of the conference for delegates was the reception and conference dinner at Dublin Castle, attended by Bertie Ahern, An Taiseach and fellow CIPFA member!

CIPFA European Group Seminar 2006

Seminar and EGM 2004
On the 29th of October 2004 CIPFA President, Steve Freer and senior Secretariat staff, along with a number of eminent speakers and special invited guests, were welcomed to a seminar and EGM in Brussels by Leslie Milne, Chairman of the CIPFA European Group. The event was held at the conference centre of Scotland Europa in the heart of Brussels. Learn more
