Deloitte Future Finance Leaders Programme
Organisational development and succession planning are critical to all local authorities and the local government sector as a whole. With this in mind Deloitte has developed a unique programme aimed specifically at developing the skills and capabilities required by the next generation of finance leaders in local government. 2012 AGM and Development Session - 8th March 2012 - Bookmark the date!
This is the 4th year CIM have held an award winning development session alongside their AGM. This event is open to all CIPFA members and students and will include the opportunity to meet the National President and network with colleagues across the region. Regional Annual Seminar and Dinner
CIPFA in the Midlands hosted its hugely successful annual seminar and dinner at the Birmingham Hyatt on the 11th November 2011. Speakers from the public sector (local government, health, central government) and the private sector, provided their thoughts on the challenges facing services and the need for growth. Lisa Commane, Regional President, is very pleased to let you know that Brian Berry was awarded the Hedley Marshall Award at the Conference for the Regions dinner in September. This is in recognition of Brian's long standing and excellent support to CIPFA through his volunteering activities. Brian was awarded the honour jointly with George Clark from the North East. Brian and his wife Jan were there to celebrate the achievement. Well done Brian!!

CIPFA in the Midlands is 100 years old!!
The forerunner to CIPFA in the Midlands held its inaugural meeting in March 1911 in Birmingham. The history of the first 50 years 1911- 1961 was recorded in a fascinating booklet published at the time.
CIPFA Invigilation Arrangements
For many years CIPFA has relied upon retired members panels organised by Dick Coppard and Arthur Boulter to assist with invigilating at the CIPFA mock and real exams at various centres throughout the UK. From January 2011 all invigilation arrangements are made at CETC and potential invigilators should contact Liz Curran at liz.curran@cipfa.org.uk
