Continuing Professional Development

CIPFA in the Midlands recognises the benefits of CPD, and encourages members to participate. The Region is keen to support Members in a variety of ways, so that the scheme's requirements can be fulfilled. A range of local events is offered each year, which are listed on the Events page. We also make presentations and other documents available as downloadable documents that members and students can read at a convenient time.

The Regional CPD Advisor is Sue Smith - please contact her for advice or information.

Participation in CIPFA's Continuing Professional Development Scheme applies to all CIPFA members. The scheme has been designed to be as flexible as possible to allow for the different demands placed on CIPFA members throughout their careers. Developing relevant knowledge and skills is central to CIPFA's scheme and ensures members benefit from all training and development activities undertaken.

CIPFA Learning Centre

Click here for the CLCThe CIPFA Learning Centre (CLC) has been developed to support members in their CPD. As well as being able to complete and store your CPD documents online, which can be shared electronically with CIPFA and other colleagues, the CLC also provides a significant resource to members as it contains an extensive range of authoritative technical accountancy, leadership and management learning materials. You can also view and amend your personal and employer details held by CIPFA by visiting the My Membership area.

Accreditation routes

An increasing number of employers have or are in the process of developing and implementing their own staff development schemes. These are known by different names but are usually based on planning, recording and evaluating development.

CIPFA has developed 3 accreditation routes:

If you participate in a development scheme that has been accredited by CIPFA, members will be able to provide paperwork from the approved accreditation route as evidence of their CPD activities and will not be required to complete paperwork from CIPFA's scheme. Members should continue to confirm participation annually by completing the Statement of Declaration. Benefits include having more time to devote to your development, as well as receiving support and recognition from both your employer and CIPFA.

For more information please visit the CLC at http://learning.cipfa.org.uk and click on Accreditation Routes in the left hand menu. To find out if your employer is accredited by CIPFA, click here.

Please note that even if you work for an employer which has accreditation by CIPFA for its employment development scheme, you still need to register personally for CPD with CIPFA.

Volunteering

CIPFA's Regions rely on the volunteer services of its members. If you would like to volunteer your services within your Region or if you are already a volunteer this may count towards your continuing professional development. To find out more please visit http://www.cipfa.org.uk/volunteers/
