Volunteer to help arrange events in your area
Members and students really appreciate being able to attend a range of evening and afternoon meetings on topical subjects at local level within reasonable travelling distance. However, the number of events in most areas of the Midlands has declined over recent years, due to a lack of people to organise them. New volunteers are therefore needed across the Midlands Region to help plan and arrange these lecture meetings and events. No experience is needed, just enthusiasm!
The expected commitment is to attend planning meetings from time to time, and to help in the arranging of one lecture meeting or event during the year.
Volunteers are also needed to help plan and organise the CATS Audit Training Seminars.
If you would like to volunteer for this extremely worthwhile role, please contact the following people for further information:

Melanie Brittain, e-mail: mbrittain@cityofworcester.gov.uk
Melanie says: "Last year, I achieved the goal I had been working towards for a number of years, I qualified as a Chartered Public Finance Accountant. Since qualifying I have gained the position of Corporate Accountant with Worcester City Council, a position within which I am continuing to learn. Through becoming an accountant I have benefited from the ongoing learning process, which enables us to keep ourselves up to date and develop our own knowledge and skills.
As part of this process I have decided to volunteer for CIPFA; enabling me to 'put something back’ and to further develop myself. As a volunteer I have been asked to bring together a group within the Southern Region of the Midlands to arrange locally based seminars and lectures on current issues. It would also be of benefit to have events that we are able to access easily and at reasonable prices, and that would count towards our CPD commitments. I am therefore seeking volunteers to join the group to help identify ideas for and organise events."
