6^th-Form Management Games – volunteers needed

6^th-Form management games provide a stimulating and fun environment for students to sample the scope, complexity and impact of financial management in the public sector. Given the current decline in CIPFA student numbers and the lack of a CIPFA course provider in the North East, this is something we are looking to facilitate.

Upcoming Event: Assurance Mapping in the Public Sector, 6 February 2012

Organised by the North East, Yorkshire & The Humber NHS Internal Audit Training Group this is a one day event at the Bridge Hotel in Wetherby. Contacts and further details here.

Recent Events:

NE Golf Tournament at Beamish Park: 30 competitors took part in the traditional team event, followed by the afternoon singles for the Lady Lambert Trophy on 15th September.
North East Accountancy Awards 2011: On 9 Jun, CIPFA members and the public sector were well-represented amongst the award winners in these prestigious awards.
Annual General Meeting 2011: On 29 March, CIPFA members and students in the North-East region gathered at the Laing Art Gallery in Newcastle-upon-Tyne for the AGM, preceded by a keynote seminar featuring CIPFA Past-President Roger Latham. Details here
Annual Dinner 2011: On 25 March, almost 100 CIPFA members, students and guests gathered at the Assembly Rooms in Newcastle-upon-Tyne for the CIPFA North East Annual Dinner 2011. Details here.

Former Regional Chair Shares Hedley Marshall Award
George Clark was awarded the 2011 Hedley Marshall Award, along with Brian Berry from CIPFA in the Midlands, at the Conference for the Regions in September 2011.

Our area stretches from Berwick-upon-Tweed in the north to the Tees Valley in the south. CIPFA in the North East has in excess of 630 Members and 150 Students employed throughout the public services and private sector.
