Volunteers

Questions & Answers

Who runs the society?

The society is run for the students, by the students. There are currently seven members on the committee. Please see our Committee page for pen pictures and contact details.
Please contact our Chair if you would like to join the committee.
The society is also overseen by qualified members (the regional executive).

Who funds the society?

The society is funded directly by CIPFA, through the regions. For each event we hold we have to bid to the region to obtain funding.
Most events are free to CIPFA students, although there are a few where we ask for a small contribution to help cover costs.
All funding we receive is there to assist in student training and development. We are a non-profit making organisation and everyone on the committee is a volunteer.
The society also strives to obtain sponsorship for events to help cover costs.

Who decides what events the society puts on?

The society depends on students to put forward ideas on what events they would like to see during the year.
The events programme is planned annually taking into consideration the ideas put forward by students, topical issues and previous successful events.
If you have any ideas for the programme ? please contact us using any of the details on the contacts page.

What events does the society organise?

The society aims to organize a wide range of events across the year ? everything from exam techniques to something more social!

What events are planned for this year?

Our events programme for 2007-2008 can be viewed on the events page.
To book a place, use any of our contacts.

How often are events held?

We try and hold an event every couple of months, avoiding the two main exam/revision periods in May/June and November/December.

What events have been successful in the past?

Some events are more successful than others dependant upon the subject, date and time of day!
Reviews of our events are uploaded to the news page after each event so you can see how successful an event was and find out what was discussed. Any associated slideshows that were used during the event will also be included here ? so even if you miss an event you can still catch the content!

What will attending an event cost me?

Most events are free however, sometime we do ask for a small contribution towards covering costs. The cost of any event will be clearly shown on all communications about the event.

How do I get an answer to another question?
