Annual General Meeting 2008
The 2008 annual general meeting was held at the JJB Stadium in Wigan on 4th April. Martyn Kenyon from Wigan Council was sworn in as President for the year, taking over from Jeremy Valentine. Martyn has chosen Mike Owen from Bury Council as his Vice President for the year

New Regional Representative to CIPFA Council
Following the elections for CIPFA Council our current regional representative, Mike Owen was successful in being elected to the CIPFA Council. In order to maximise our regions representation at CIPFA, Mike has agreed to stand down from his elected post on our Council and as a result the Society Council has asked Lee Yale Helms to take on board the role of Regional Representative to CIPFA Council for the remainder of the year.
Society win CIPFA Award
At the Conference for the Regions held in Glasgow, the Society was presented 
with the Regional Web Site of the Year Award 2006. The trophy was presented to the Society by the President of CIPFA Caroline Gardner. The award recognises the efforts put in by the regional web support team over the last twelve months. The team comprised Janice Bate, Derek Whiteway, David Rose, Katherine Roscoe & Shaer Halewood
Marriott/Morgan Golf Competition
This years golf competition for the Marriott/Morgan Plate was held at Haydock Park Golf Club. Once again the event attracted a good entry and was blessed with fine weather for the day. The event is now in its seventeenth year. The first competition held at Fairhaven Golf Club was won by the one of the competitions founders Douglas Mogan and it is fitting that after so many years of trying Douglas again won the competition.
