PrintBursary scheme
CIPFA is pleased to relaunch its Bursary Scheme which seeks to give more people the opportunity to study for the CIPFA qualification and to promote the CIPFA training scheme. The scheme seeks to support individuals who are keen to obtain the CIPFA qualification, have the support of their employer, but are unable to meet the full costs of professional study.
To be eligible to apply for a bursary, the candidate must:
- Be employed by an organisation that falls within Scotland; and
- Satisfy CIPFA's minimum entry requirements
There is no restriction on the sector or size of the employing organisation, however priority will be given to small organisations or those who have not trained a CIPFA student in the last three years.
The criteria for selection of candidates are as follows:
- Demonstrable commitment of the candidate to obtaining an accountancy qualification within the public services; and
- Demonstrable commitment of the employer to supporting the candidate in completing the qualification.
CIPFA in Scotland will normally contribute 50% towards the costs of any of the following items to a maximum of £500 per level of professional study:-
- Registration fees;
- Opening Learning Material and Support;
- Fees for added value courses
- CIPFA recommended text books;
- Examination entry fees;
- Revision course by a CIPFA college provider; and
- Associated travel & subsistence costs.
CIPFA in Scotland will provide a mentor for each bursary student whose responsibility it will be to:
- Provide advice and support to the student and employer as requested;
- Ensure that the student makes regular contact with CIPFA in Scotland (at least yearly) and may wish to initiate contact on an informal basis;
- Monitor performance of the student, submission of assignments, discuss potential problems with the student and report to E&T
- Provide a link between the student and the college as required; and
- Formally acknowledge the success of the student at each stage.
