THE PILOT MENTORING SCHEME
Helping other members is fundamental to the ethos of CIPFA. Mentoring, or helping others to achieve their full potential, benefits both mentor and mentee and also enhances the reputation of the individuals and the Institute as a whole.
Informal mentoring takes place at the workplace, or through networking. However CIPFA South East has developed a pilot scheme to bring mentors and mentees together and give some guidance to facilitate more widespread mentoring.
The pilot mentoring scheme was launched in October 2010 and by the end of December all the mentees who had registered an interest in having a mentor had been matched and a mentor allocated to them.
Mentors and mentees have received guidance on their role and the first meeting between mentors and mentees will have taken place by the end of February 2011. There will be a review of the pilot scheme between July and September 2011. This will involve all mentees and mentors answering a short questionnaire and will inform the further roll out of mentoring across other regions.
The pilot scheme was launched with these assumptions:
If you are interested in becoming a mentor or mentee, it is hoped that there is sufficient information provided to enable you to consider whether you will be interested in registering for the scheme after the review of the pilot has been completed in September 2011. An email will be sent to all members and this website will be updated when the revised registration forms are available. In the interim any queries should be addressed to mentoring@cipfasoutheast.org.uk.
