Would you like a free presentation skills workshop in your organisation? If you can provide a meeting room for the workshop your regional student society will organise the trainer free of charge. email cipfaswwe@yahoo.com to book a workshop.
Your region can also run IPDS workshops at your organisation with an IPDS assessor. If you are interested please email Jennie at cipfaswwe@yahoo.com
Your student representative in the region is Chris Roach.
He is based in Bristol and has been working for RSM Robson Rhodes in public sector audit for the last eighteen months. His job involves working at many different public sector bodies, including Police, NHS and Local Government so the CIPFA qualification is essential.
His CIPFA studies started at CETC South West in Bristol in September 2005 and he has now completed the Certificate stage. His employer provides a lot of support for his time at college but by volunteering for the NSF, he wants to try to make sure that all CIPFA students have their issues represented. Please feel free to drop him an email - chris.roach@rsmi.co.uk

Volunteer!
There are a number of ways in which you can volunteer in the region.
Regional Council meetings are held four times a year and students are welcome to attend regional council meetings. This is your chance to make the council aware of any local issues with CIPFA and to shape how the region supports students.
We are looking for two student volunteers in the region to get involved with student issues. If you are interested in either of the following please email cipfaswwe@yahoo.com
- South West of England Student Representative
- South Wales Student Representative
Attend CIPFA events. Each year the region sponsors a number of students to attend the CIPFA conference or NSF conference.
Contribute to the website. If you have attended a recent CIPFA event that you have enjoyed tell us about it and we will include your comments on this website. Write an article about something you are studying or about what you do at work and we will include it here.
Volunteering involves as little or as much of a commitment as you want to make. If you want further information about how you can help please send us an e-mail.

Memory Skills Event - 25th May 2007
Local Company Fresh Baked ran a memory skills event in Newport for CIPFA students just before their exams to teach them tricks to help them remember information. Ten students attended all of whom gave excellent feedback and as such we intend to run more events with Fresh Baked over the next year. The company is based in Cardiff and run a number of training courses which are available at discounted rates for individuals working in the public sector.

IPDS Student Workshop
CIPFA held an IPDS student workshop in Bristol on 21st July for students and an IPDS employers workshop the day before. Both events were well attended and provided an opportunity for stududents to fine tune their portfolio or get an overview of the scheme.
