The CIPFA Directors of Finance Section Annual Public Finance Debate 2011 and Dinner will be held this year in the Grand Central Hotel Glasgow on Thursday 24th November.

This years debate will be preceded by a Masterclass from 10.00 am onwards.

The Public Finance Debate, which is sponsored by Threadneedle, opens with a drinks reception at 6.30pm. This is followed by the debate at 7pm, and then dinner at approximately 8.30pm.

Now an established part of the Directors of Finance calendar, the debate will be chaired by Mike Thatcher, Editor of Public Finance.

The debate will follow the popular BBC Question Time format with the following expert guest panellists:
Prof. John Curtice, Strathclyde University
David Martin, CEO Renfrewshire Council and SOLACE
Ruth Wishart, Broadcaster and Member of the Christie Commission
Antonia Swinson, Journalist and Broadcaster

Members of the audience will be invited to ask questions and, after debate, a card vote will be taken on the audience view. The debate will be reported in full in Public Finance magazine and the outcome of the card vote will be announced at the dinner following the debate.
