The Final Test of Professional Competence
Oral presentation
In this part of the portfolio you are being asked to demonstrate the ability to plan, prepare and deliver an oral presentation.
Choice of Presentation – when and where?
Your presentation must be in front of an audience of at least three people and be on a topic previously agreed with the audience or the person requesting the presentation.
You can choose the topic of the the presentation and when and where you undertake the presentation.
What does this activity involve?
You are expected to approach this part of the portfolio in a similar way to that required with respect to the three Professional level selected activities.
Therefore you must include the following sections in your portfolio:
- Details of how you planned, researched and prepared for the presentation. You must ensure that you explain the aims of the presentation and the context in which it is being delivered.
- A short description of what took place during the delivery, including details of any contribution by the audience.
- Evidence, which must be sufficient and appropriate, to demonstrate that you have undertaken the presentation.
- A commentary which reflects on how effectively you researched, planned, prepared and delivered the presentation and what you have learned as a result of the process. You may find it useful to get feedback on your presentation from the audience. Feedback sheets can also be useful as evidence.
