IPDS Guide - Evidenced Activities
The Final Test of Professional Competence
Planning and managing a long term process
The ability to plan and manage a process that takes place over a significant period
of time is a further professional capability that you need to develop.
For this activity you must demonstrate that you have managed such a process. You
should select an activity which you have had to plan and manage over a period of
time.
- This long term process should have been planned to last for a period of at least
three months (something that is simply ‘dragging on’ is not an appropriate
activity!).
- The long term process does not need to have been completed by the time you
submit your portfolio and you do not have to work on the activity every day. It
is about your ability plan a process and your other work around it and your
ability to manage that process.
- You may use the compilation of your IPDS portfolio as your planned long term
process.
For planning and managing a long term process you must include:
- A description of the situation/activity selected and how you planned to manage
the activity (planning).
- Details of any outcomes (application).
- Evidence to demonstrate that you have undertaken the process.
- A reflective commentary on the experience.
