Portfolio format
To give an idea of what a portfolio should look like, we have included an example portfolio (PDF, 205kb). This should not be seen as the perfect portfolio but just an example, one that any candidate may produce and one that would be deemed ‘ready’ by the assessor.
Portfolio presentation
You will need to structure your portfolio both carefully and logically. It is suggested that it should be presented in sections which reflect the points given in the checklist.
Before you submit your portfolio, consider the reader:
- Has the portfolio been presented in such a way that it is accessible to the reader in terms of style of writing and vocabulary used?
- Is the portfolio clearly and logically sectioned for ease of understanding?
Submitting your portfolio:
- Your portfolio must spiral bound.
- The planning and application narratives and the written reflections should be word processed and correctly referenced.
- Paper based evidence should be presented in the form it was originally completed.
- Non-paper based evidence such as video or audio recordings, may be included.
- Any non paper evidence must be attached to the portfolio, clearly referenced and marked with your candidate number.
- You must clearly cross-reference between your written narratives and the relevant evidence.

Confidentiality Anything you include in your portfolio will be treated as confidential by CIPFA and its assessors. Should you have any concerns about the particular sensitivity of aspects of your portfolio, such as some evidence, you can ‘anonymise’ the contents if you wish. Please keep in mind that we do not require substantial documentation, more often an executive summary, cover sheet and/or conclusions page will be sufficient. |
