Initial Professional Development Scheme (IPDS) - Sample Portfolios
Below is an IPDS portfolio submitted by a CIPFA student and assessed as 'ready' for submission. We hope you will find it helpful when you put together your IPDS portfolio but please keep the points below in mind.
The marks given for each section have been included so that you can get an idea of what you need to do to obtain a '4' or a '5'; all the marks have been rounded to the nearest whole number.
The online portfolio is anonymised, and this is acceptable when you are submitting your portfolio for assessment. For the online portfolio, information that could identify the student and their employing organisation has also been removed - of course, throughout the portfolio that you submit you will need to be clearly identified!
Complete evidence has been included wherever possible. However, in some cases where documents have been scanned and amended, eg tables, it was not possible to reproduce them exactly and the presentation may not be to the standard of the actual portfolio. Do keep this in mind when putting your portfolio together, as presentation is important.
Remember, this is only an example to give you an idea of the types of activities students are doing, what can be used as evidence and what constitutes a good standard of portfolio etc. Yours will not be identical.
If you know others who have submitted successful portfolios, try to get a look at these as well and if your organisation has any already online and would be happy to share these with other students via the CIPFA student pages, please email etis@cipfa.org.
