The recent CIPFA Student Survey asked you what you felt about the Student Learning Centre; here are some of the responses:

“My experience is that online learning is much easier to use than large paper text books. It provides a much more interactive and positive learning experience.”

“I fully support the CIPFA move to make the learning material available online.”

“The new learning material looks far more concise and relevant, but above all focused fully on actually developing the competencies required of practising CIPFA members, which is the overriding purpose of the Professional Qualification.”

“With the needs of a student in focus, interactive learning can be easier to access and better value. On screen step-by-step guides will aid understanding of complex issues. Large volume study material, articles, examples can be made available and be easily accessible. Self-test questions can be built in to ensure easy revision. The opportunities are endless.”

“The online course content sounds far better suited to my style of learning. It is very difficult to identify areas to concentrate on when you are left on your own with a book. Hopefully the online structure will be more user-friendly and will encourage practice and enhance my learning experience. I am more likely to study on a computer than I am by a book.”

“Student can dictate pace of learning and have complete control.”

“Will provide more flexibility for study. I learn more when a course is interactive.”

“It will be less cumbersome than the sometimes huge textbooks and easier to find the required information. It will be accessible in the work environment, therefore more convenient to use and study. I would rather study electronically than from a paper based book.”

“It will add flexibility to my learning and it will make the syllabus easier to manage. It could also be more student friendly than a bulky book and scattered notes.”
