East Midlands students gain new path to public services accountancy
A new educational partnership will allow students in the East Midlands to continue to access high-quality training for the only Chartered Accountancy qualification tailored to the public services.
The Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) is entering into a partnership between Nottingham Business School (NBS) and the CIPFA Education and Training Centre (CETC).
The CIPFA: CETC in partnership with Nottingham Business School centre will provide the highest quality classroom-based tuition and support to new and current students, using NBS’ outstanding facilities and lecturers. The whole process will be supplemented by CETC’s learning materials and specialist trainers.
Students will benefit from the combined expertise of two leading organisations, enabling employers from across the East Midlands region to train their staff to professional status and beyond.
The new partnership is a key part of the nationwide re-organisation of the way in which the CIPFA qualification is delivered. CETC is opening new centres in Nottingham, Chelmsford, Exeter and Leeds to widen access to the only professional qualification for the public services.
Courses will be available from January 2011, providing continuous study for existing students and entry opportunities for new students. Further information can be found at the NUT website www.ntu.ac.uk
Giles Orr, Head of CETC said:
‘Students from Nottingham and the East Midlands will have full access to the CIPFA qualification. They and prospective employers will quickly notice the value of the new partnership with Nottingham Business School.’
Chris Hunt, Head of the Department of Accounting at Nottingham Business School, added:
“This is an exciting opportunity for two experienced CIPFA course providers to work together to delivery excellent quality tuition to existing and new CIPFA students. We have had a long commitment to the training of public sector accountants in the East Midlands and the partnership with CETC will enable us to develop this further”
