CIPFA Qualified Members Case Studies
Claire always knew that she wanted to work in the public services: “I
wanted a career where each day was different and a challenge. I thought it
would be interesting to work within the public services because I wanted to
feel that the job I was doing actually made a difference to people. I’m
glad to say it does”…

Elizabeth wanted to widen her career options and was able to opt for the
fast track route to gain her CIPFA qualification. “Obtaining CIPFA in
addition to my CIMA qualification enables me to work either in a management
accounting role or in a technical corporate finance role”….

Simon was encouraged to study for the CIPFA qualification by his employer,
KPMG, and, since deciding to focus on the public services, he’s never
looked back. “My job is just so lively. One day I’m in London
assisting a national charity with its corporate governance arrangements, the
next I’m in Southampton helping to streamline the repairs and maintenance
function in a housing association. At the same time, I’m liaising with
colleagues in Germany on a joint project we’re organising. I don’t
think I’d get this level of variety – or challenge – in
the private sector.”…
