After graduating with a history degree, Joseph knew he wanted to work within the public sector: “I was really keen to help affect people’s lives and the wider community through working for the public”.

Joseph is currently on a graduate training scheme as a trainee auditor at the Audit Commission. The scheme includes studying for the CIPFA qualification in addition to valuable hands on training and the best possible work experience.

This is something Joseph is more than delighted about: “Studying for CIPFA and working for the Audit Commission has made me aware of how I can use the skills I learn to try and help the local community and make a change on a national level”

With many public sector employers opting for the CIPFA qualification as part of their training schemes, Joseph could not have had a better start to his career, and his future ambitions to progress within the Audit Commission, NHS or Central Government will be inevitable once he becomes a fully qualified Chartered Public Finance Accountant (CPFA).
