Vacancies We look to recruit 15 CIPFA trainees across the UK in the following offices: London, Cambridge, Bristol, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Birmingham and Leeds.

Key Responsibilities We are looking for enthusiastic individuals to join our successful and growing team of public sector specialists. As a CIPFA trainee at Grant Thornton, you will have the opportunity to work with a wide variety of large and challenging clients in changing and dynamic sectors. With early responsibility, regular feedback and the help of a mentor, you’ll learn how to tackle audits, value for money studies and business reviews of a variety of not for profit businesses and public sector organisations. As an CIPFA trainee we hope that you will work on a series of audit assignments of varying lengths. As a first year trainee you could be involved in the following activities:
- visiting client sites as part of a team at the fieldwork stage of the audit
- establishing good working relationships with clients as you discuss relevant audit issues with the client's people
- preparing accounts
- completing documents such as bank and solicitor letters
- completing audit tests in all sections
- carrying out searches and research.
As a CIPFA best practice employer, you will receive full support in your studies. The structured CIPFA programme is supplemented with regular internal training in audit and accounting techniques and developments, sector specific issues and personal and management skills. We ensure that formal studies are complemented with work based experience that provides exposure to a broad range of clients and skills. You will work alongside other trainees as part of our combined public and private sector audit team, and we offer a unique opportunity to broaden your public sector experience through work in the private sector and internal secondment to other specialist departments within the firm.
Salary (£) Starting salary is up to £25,000, depending on location

Minimum Requirements 300 UCAS tariff points and a 2:1 degree classification in any discipline. In addition, candidates must be interested and enthusiastic about working with organisations in the not for profit and public sectors..
